Scandal is my first Australian Shepherd (& won’t be my last) he arrived in early June 2002
I was so excited when I had to go to the airport to pick him up & Scandal got off the plane quite happy & he still has his purple dinosaur that I brought for him, though is missing its eyes.
This was to be my first venture in obedience & showing, so we both learnt together, & we still are, my first show I didn’t have a clue what I was doing but had fun & did met some great people who showed me the basics, we also started to attend show handling classes, this was A LOT different to showing my ponies.
We commenced showing in September 2002 & in under 12mths attained his Australian Champion title, which he gained unbeaten in breed competition.
Scandal’s achievements in the show ring can be seen on his ‘Show results’ page
Scandal also does herding & was the first Aussie in Tassie to get his HIT (6th March 2004), placing 2nd in a pre trial herding test to boot, he also won BOB in an all breed show held the same day, proving the versatility of the breed. While gaining his HIT he also won the award for ‘dog that least stressed the sheep’ over the trials, showing a lot of natural ability.
Scandal has continued to excel in the show ring, gaining in group awards against stiff competition.
It is in herding that he is showing his true colours with amazing herding ability, we practice most weekends when there are no shows, & I hope he passes this ability onto his offspring eventually.
Scandal has been hip/elbow tested ( please see above for results ) & has been cleared for eyes yearly.
Scandal was the first Aussie to get a 'Pre Trial Certificate" in herding, and the first Aussie in Tasmania to get a 'Herding Started A Course Sheep' title.
Scandal's first litter of puppies ( March 2006) are showing alot of natural ability at herding, as well as those being show winning in show & group awards at both Champ & Specialty shows. With other starting to go into the obedience/agility area.
